TKT and Tailored Courses

If you are a teacher or a group of teachers who would like to combine a stay in the North of England with a refresher course in English and methodology, all at a reasonable price, then Action English can help you. We offer combined courses in language improvement, British culture and current ideas and methodology. You can stay with a local family or in a hall of residence and study for one, two or three weeks at our centre in Leeds.

At the end, usually after a minimum of a two-week course, you have the option of taking the TKT (the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test). This is an award both for teachers who have just started teaching, and for those who have been teaching for some time.

You can choose to study one, two or three modules and to take the test in one, two or all the modules.

They are:

Module 1 - Language and background to language learning and teaching

• Describing language and language skills.
• Background to language learning.
• Background to language teaching.

Module 2 - Planning lessons and use of resources for language teaching

• Planning and preparing a lesson or sequence of lessons.
• Selection and use of resources and materials.

 Module 3 - Managing the teaching and learning process

• Teachers' and learners' language in the classroom.
• Classroom management
