University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations | Authorised Centre for Teaching Awards
This internationally recognised course gives you the qualification you need to teach English anywhere in the world. It is also your first step towards being qualified to teach ESOL to adults in the UK.
Our intensive, four-week course will provide you with the knowledge of methodology and the practical skills you need to teach any level of student. You can also take the course part-time over 22 weeks.
Cambridge CELTA is suitable for those who have no experience, or who have experience of teaching a different subject. It may also be suitable for those who have done some TEFL or ESOL teaching but have little training.
• input sessions on language awareness, methodology, classroom practice and phonology
• six hours of supervised teaching practice teaching real students
• observed lessons taught by highly-qualified, experienced teachers
• four practical assignments.
You will receive guidance in all aspects of teaching, including lesson planning using an up-to-date coursebook. We can also help you look for a teaching job, and at the end of the course, we will write a report detailing your achievements: you can use this when applying for work.
